Thanks for the tips. So far, I've been using one of the foot lockers in Doc's house in Goodsprings, and so far, so good.I'm thinking the School house safe might be a good short-term storage, since I don't believe the safes will respawn items, once they've been opened.what do you think?I remember that FO3 allowed me to go into the console and re-set any container so it was mine, which prevented the respawning of items (and subsequent loss of anything I had stored there), but I haven't seen anything like that in this game. Containers in fallout 3 and NV, the normal random loot ones you find about (boxes, cabinets, etc) can spawn items once. Once those containers spawn random loot their 'switch' is turned off, so they won't re-spawn items. If you want to store items in a container and not be worried about losing stuff, etc then just make sure to store items in a container that already had items in it. So if you go into a room that has 6 boxes, and 2 of those boxes have random loot already and the other 4 are empty, then those 2 boxes are safe to store items since their 'loot' switch is turned off.If you re-enter that cell such as fast traveling away and back, the game re-checks each time you enter the cell for containers to see if they spawn items.

So when you re-enter that cell it will look at the 6 chests again, see that 2 are turned 'off' and ignore them, then check the remaining 4 for chances to spawn random loot.So store stuff anywhere you want just make sure the container already had items in it and your good. In FO3 I had occasional problems with containers that I had looted already respawning items a second (or even multiple) times.and I'm pretty certain on that, so I don't know if the 'switched off' idea applied across the board in that game. Even in this game, I've pulled loot out of the dumpsters next to the store in Goodsprings twice already, as well as a couple of the mailboxes. So I'm not sure the 'switch off' is an absolute. But I know the safes definately apply, so I've just been storing items there. Thanks for all the helpful tips, guys.

To unlock objects in Fallout: New Vegas you must rotate the bobby pin up to 180° around the top and sides of the screen. Do this by guessing the right spot to apply torque, which turns the lock. If the bobby pin is in the right spot, the lock will turn from vertical to horizontal, and the lock will open.

Here's some random tidbits off the top of my head (with hopefully minimal spoilers):Gambling is a good source of money once you get to casinos (if you have 7 or more luck). If, for some reason, you get bored of Goodsprings, the rest of the game is better. Just follow the 'They went that-a way' quest. If you somehow piss off everybody in the game, don't worry, you can still beat it by doing the quest of a guy named 'Yes Man' (unless you blow him up with energy weapons, then you're out of luck.

No need to shoot him though). When viewing weapons, you'll notice it changes between showing you the Damage and DPS. High Damage/low DPS weapons are good for anybody who looks like they have armor.

High DPS/Low Damage weapons are good for anyone who doesn't look like they have good armor.Unless you have a maxxed strength, be sure to keep a alcoholic drink or two on you. It increases your strength, so they're very handy in case you need to haul more loot than you can normally carry back home (or to your stash). If you get addicted, the withdrawal symptoms aren't nearly as bad as Buffout (another strength booster, generally save it for emergencies). If you make it to a town called 'Novac', that's where you'll be able to get a somewhat early homebase. Talk to the innkeeper and either get to be liked by the Novac community or just pay her 100 caps.Your general 'shopping list' when scavenging should usually include duct tape, scrap electronics, scrap metal, wonderglue, and wrenchs. With your Repair skill at 50, these let you build Weapon Repair Kits.

Remember the alien epoxy from Mothership Zeta? Basically does the same thing. There are collectable Snowglobes in this game. Each one can be turned into a certain NPC you'll meet for 2000 caps each and will be put on display like the Bobbleheads. If you are a completionist, bear in mind that NPC won't be around if you kill her boss and won't be able to finish the collection.Find a shovel (or buy one from the Goodsprings) and don't lose it. You need a shovel to desecrate dig up graves.Use Sunset Sarsaparilla as a healing source before resorting to Stimpaks.

It frees up weight and a random guy might talk to you sometime and tell you why you want to drink Sunset Sarsaparilla.Check out that Quarry area up north of Goodsprings for a good time, experience, some good loot, and maybe some drugs. And finally, if you come across a lottery winner sometime and might feel compelled to shoot him dead even when you'll get no good loot out of it. Nobody here will blame you for that. It's ok, just let it happen. The biggest change I'd say is that, especially at the beginning, the game is much more story driven and going off the beaten path will get you killed at low level. I'd recommend just falling the main quest for the most part until you hit Boulder City. From there, you'll be high enough level to really start exploring and the game world will open up for you. Also, remember how companions were pack mules in Fallout 3? Well, in NV, companions are some of the deepest and most interesting NPCs in the game, and each come with their own backstory and fully-fleshed out quest, so take make sure you get to know them!

In 3 it wouldn't matter if you never had a companion, in NV I would say they are almost critical in fleshing out the world of the Mojave.
