Hey all,My SB-220 bit the dust today while running 500W on RTTY but it went after the last transmission. So far it had 1 of the circuit breakers trip and one of the protection diodes on the Harbach Filter cap board blow. The strange thing is I get a continuity reading across the HV wires from the transformer of anywhere from 50 to 180K ohms I do not remember seeing that high of reading on the plate transformer before. Is it time for a replacement or do I need to take it apart and see if it has a loose connection? The input seems good though with no shorts to either ground or to the HV side. So where is the best place to start?Roland AH6RR.

Was just curious as more DC input power is required on the higher bands than at say 75 meters meaning more demands of the power supply and this includes the umm. And since I have an older SB-220 i wanted to know what band he was using to work-back (roughly) what the DC input power might have been (I can measure it on my amp, and all amps, properly working should be similar, although not exact!!).

And, since I operate some of these 'CW' (continuous wave) modes (semi-longish key-down times) e.g. AM it's good to learn and know what experience others have had, especially when it comes to the failures, crashes, launch-pad explosions etc. That others have had. Battlefront 2 assault weapons.
